I’m sitting here, listening to the autumn rain, dressed warm with slippers on my feet, and wondering what to write for the introduction of this week’s prompt. It was my turn to do the top 3 again, and where I always enjoy reading all the posts, I also wish I could feature all of them in the highlight below. But alas, I have to make a choice, right? This time I decided to highlight posts that actually followed the prompt.
Before I share my choices, I have something else I want to share: some of us are sharing our work on Medium too, and not all of those posts have first been published on our blogs. If you want to read everything we write, please follow us on Medium:
To find others, just check the lists of the people we follow. Happy reading!
Top 3 for week 487 by Marie A. Rebelle
So here goes, the three posts I selected to highlight for last week’s prompt:
Public Nudity Live Blog by No Pants Endurance
There are amazing images in this post, all of them taken en route while either driving, or running. There are dunes and mountains and rails. So, what does this have to do with the ‘dark street’ prompt? I love how creative he was at the end of his post, where he concluded with his take on the prompt. Go look!
Back Against the Wall by May More
A fortune cookie plays an important part in this hot piece of fiction by May. Written in the first person, it gives the sense of urgency she was looking for, while we read about all the sexiness happening in that dark street!
Down The Dark Alley? Not Today! by The barefoot sub
I am very fond of barefoot’s writing, especially when she writes about feelings and boundaries and all she has learned in the past years. I frequently take something away from her posts, and in this one, I admired her strength, and it caused me some introspection.
The prompt is set by Mrs Jones, and it’s her voice you here in the videos:
What is the real world? Is it the every day mundane details of work and colleagues and traffic or is it something else? By escaping these mundane details are we reconnecting with reality? Do we need to connect with and live out our fantasies to become properly human? Sometimes we feel that there is no choice but to accept that life is mundane and that mediocre is the best we can hope for but what if there is a better way? Are we brave enough to make a break for it?
(Please note: the video below takes a minute or so to load, but it is SO worth to see it! And otherwise you can click here to see a longer video.)
When you write and link your post, consider linking it to other memes too. You can find current prompts and memes on the Blogable calendar.
As always, you are welcome to link any stories or posts that don’t follow the prompt!
Want to participate but don’t know how?
Do you have a blog and you want to link to Wicked Wednesday, but you don’t know how to add the badge or how to add your post? Please follow this guide.
If you don’t have a blog and you want to participate in one of the prompts, please look at this page and submit your writing or image. I will do the rest.
- The rules for this meme can be found here and you can download the Wicked Wednesday badge on the same page.
- Don’t forget to add the Wicked Wednesday button to your post, post on your blog and come back here to link your post. The countdown in the sidebar will tell you how much time is left for you to link your post.
