When I sit here, thinking of those who work hard in the blogging world, and is dedicated to the art of writing, May always comes to mind. Not only does she run her blog, but also the 4Thoughts meme, a Medium space and she co-runs a Medium publication, and then there’s also Blogable. And then she always says yes when I ask if she can do the roundup for Wicked Wednesday. The one below, is the sixth she’s done, previous ones being week 289 (read it here), week 342 (read it here), week 389 (read it here), week 431 (read it here), and week 460 (read it here). Besides following her blog, meme or following May on Medium, you can also follow her on Twitter.
Top 3 for week 484 by May More
I can remember the first time Marie asked me to do the Wicked Wednesday round up. I was so excited and then when I got to choosing I realised it was not an easy task. Time has passed and I expect I have been in this position maybe four times in total? Not sure – but I know a woman who is; Marie, and I expect she has linked the occasions above 😉
Ambition is a very personal concept and that shone through in the posts. I was happy to see some fiction thrown in to the mix too. I read them all from top to bottom and here are the three that scored with me.
Something Wicked This Way Comes by Marsha Adams
I adore promoting Marsha’s writing cause boy, can she write! There is something about the way she mixes down right dirty smut with humour or satire and throws in some clever quips that just works for me. The voices in this tale are excellent and I chuckled as I read. Plus, if you know me well then the image that heads the story, red hair, freckles, is right up my street. And you will want to find out what the guy wants to do with the girl’s freckles.
Liz’s Ambition – If Only by Liz BlackX
One of the things I love about Liz’s personal posts is how well this woman knows herself and the honesty which she is willing to share with the reader. Never afraid to explore her inner self and address issues that, she says, ‘weigh heavy on her shoulders.’ And with each of these posts I enjoy getting to know just a little bit more about what makes Liz tick, or how she would like to tick 😉
A is for Ambition by Steeled Snake Charmer
Charmer always writes candidly which is so refreshing. With each post that is published I love learning new things about her and Snake. Over the years their blog has been an inspiration to me. If you too read their work you will know they dance, apparently they get to perform one they have been working on for a long time very soon. I can’t wait to hear how they get on. So just for Snake and Charmer – Every day that is born into the world comes like a burst of music and rings the whole day through, and you make of it a dance, a dirge, or a life march, as you will.
I just want to add one other extra recommendation and that is F Dot Leonora, who has done a truly amazing thing – continued a series for years. With characters I know about, even though I occasionally miss an episode. The series is ever so real and I totally admire her dedication and creativity in keeping it alive.
This week the prompt is all about promotion… and specifically self-promotion. Shameless self-promotion. Share your social media platforms, places where your work can be read, and share the top post from your blog, or those you are the most proud of. Promote your work in any way you want! And of course, you can also promote others, or interpret the prompt in a different way.
When you write and link your post, consider linking it to other memes too. You can find current prompts and memes on the Blogable calendar.
As always, you are welcome to link any stories or posts that don’t follow the prompt!
