It’s always wonderful to welcome Brigit Delaney to the roundup of Wicked Wednesday. She’s such a busy bee on her blog, now running three weekly memes, Erotic Journal Challenge, Tell Me Something True, and Flash Fiction Friday. Be sure to join in with those! Other than that you can read about her D/s and love life on her blog, read her erotic stories and follow her on Twitter.
Top 3 for week 471 by Brigit Delaney
There were some really great entries, as usual, which made choosing challenging and enjoyable. Here are my selections:
The Start of a Scene by Kristan X
I’ll be honest, I’m an unabashed fan of Kristan X’s writing, and this piece is a good example of why. The tension is established from the beginning, with the brief sentences and the methodical telling…setting the scene. The description, too, creates the mood. For example, the explanation of her actions as she turns off the light and pretends to sleep…her sudden vulnerability. It shows that even in situations where we would otherwise feel comfort, the mind can color it differently. The slow build to the dangerous and dark center of the story, lured me with direct dialogue, the kind that provides momentum, moving the plot forward. I was there before I could say no. And what a stunning, cutting end. The perfect place to close the curtain.
Identity Cards by Marsha Adams
Another of my favorite writers! I loved this piece for voice and its wonderfully written lines. Plus, it was just sexy. I found myself wondering who the stranger was…if it was Madame Potenza in costume…or a figment of the character’s imagination, especially since everything was as it should be according to her self-professed destiny. And the card-reading was so perfectly paired with the sexual notes. Such a creative use of the cards and their meanings. The last card really made me smile: “ A powerful woman sits astride the face of the world.” What an excellent line! And that ending! I could feel the heat in that tent. Such a great twist!
Grand Journey: A live update blog by NoPantsEndurance
I love a good photo essay, and this one is outstanding…thoroughly engaging! The images are simply stunning, and I found myself wondering how someone could find so many perfect places for a nude photo! This journey looks like it was quite the adventure. I especially love the reflection photo and the one on ISR 571. I simply don’t have the courage to do this sort of stuff, so I am in awe when someone else does. Thanks for taking me along on this trip.
The prompt ‘Balance’ was done before, and since balance is what many of us try to achieve in our lives, it was time to repeat this prompt. The blurb in February 2014 was as follows:
Balance… what does balance mean to you? Do you think of physical balance, or balance exercises in a yoga class? Or do you think of a weighing device and at the same time your thoughts travel to a diet you might be following or want to follow? Maybe you think of a stable mental/psychological state or emotional stability. Or maybe you think of something that is left over, the balance of the big sum? What does balance mean to you?
Whatever thoughts are triggered in your mind, we look forward to reading your (sexy) post.~ Prompt #91: Balance
When you write and link your post, consider linking it to other memes too. You can find current prompts and memes on the Blogable calendar.
As always, you are welcome to link any stories or posts that don’t follow the prompt!
